We're creating webforms to streamline our intake process and provide more efficient service. Request a news release or begin the process for a more complex project (form to come) such as a brochure, web site, or an event that requires extensive promotional support and products. If you have questions, call/email and we'll be happy to assist you.
Submitting Information for News Releases:
SRJC News Releases are posted online and distributed to the media via email. Please submit details of your announcement or event at least one month in advance, and preferably 6-8 weeks before. If your information is about an event (lecture, performance, etc.), remember:
- Only SRJC events open to the general public are eligible for a news release.
- Events that are open only to students should be publicized through student announcement channels: The Oak Leaf (527-4401), Bear Facts and our department's social media coordinator.
- Public Relations will help publicize events that are open only to faculty and staff when you submit information to the Insider or to the SRJC Calendar of Events. Faculty and staff also often publicize internal activities via e-mail messages, departmental memos and flyers, posters, etc. (We can help with these, too!)
News releases are generally limited to 150 to 250 words, and should not include opinions. On occasion, extremely newsworthy items may justify a longer press release. In such cases, Public Relations will work with programs to complete these special storylines.
Please feel free to call Public Relations at ext. 4266 or 4679 if you have questions about the news release process or e-mail our director. Please use the following outline to frame the information you wish publicized.
