Becoming Independent and Santa Rosa JC partner to bring Olympics to Santa Rosa

Becoming Independent Olympics at Santa Rosa Junior CollegeSanta Rosa, CA – Becoming Independent (BI), the region’s largest nonprofit serving people with disabilities, will host the BI Olympics at Santa Rosa Junior College’s (SRJC’s) Bailey Field on Friday, August 11. Sixty athletes will compete in eight events that will include both individual and team sports. Opening ceremonies will begin at 11:00 a.m., with an Award Ceremony commencing at 1:00. 

BI and SRJC have a long-standing partnership as two of the region’s top educators. For over two decades, BI and SRJC have enjoyed a strong relationship that currently enables 370 adults to receive specialized instruction in courses designed to provide learning opportunities in vocational and independent living skills. In addition, most instructors at BI are SRJC qualified.
